This sneaker drawing was created for a "Prospect 100" competition, in which contestants were tasked to submit a sneaker design, as well as a description behind our design choice.

This design was created with traditional Indian and African fashion in mind. While individuals from these backgrounds continue to wear this custom attire regularly, they more often than not choose to don sneakers. Especially on the East Coast, I more than often see both guys wearing Air Forces or Jordans with kurtas or kaftan suits.

These sneakers have a unique shape that is more slim, and slightly pointed toward the toe, which is a similar silhouette to traditional Indian and African dress shoes.

I first drew this sneaker with colored pencil, and then converted it into a digital drawing in Adobe Illustrator.

Although I did not win this contest, it was still very interesting, and allowed me to learn that that I enjoy designing footwear!
